The History of Gunpowder

Gun powder was first invented in 1040 in China for fireworks and other things like that. It was also used in bombs that the Chinese used against the mongols. After the mongols conquered China they used the gun powder bombs during their invasion of Japan. During the time that gun powder was invented the Song Dynasty was in power. However in 1115 the Jurchen Jin Dynasty emerged and destroyed the Lia Dynasty in only 10 years. Soon the Jin and the Song dynasties were at war with one another. The discovery of gunpowder weapons played a large role in the Song Dynasty's naval victories in the battles of Tangdao and Caishi on the Yangtze river.

Service Learning

I think that for service learning i want to do violence and bullying. We should try to raise awareness about it. If we can show how bad bullying and violence are then we might be able to reduce it in our streets. While i was on www.dosomething.org i saw many ideas on how to do this project. Like creating a magazine about gun control issues.

Proverbs

"It isn't what you have, or who you are, or where you are, or what you are doing that makes you happy or unhappy. It is what you think about." I chose this proverb because it means that no matter who you are you can be happy.

Obama's Speech

Some people thought that President Obama's speech was going to be about the economy or the health care issue. But when I read it, it was not about that at all. Like he said it was going to be it was about education. I think that the only reason people questioned Obama was racism. I think that the speech was very good. I'll admit that it wasn't his best speech but it was up there. One of the reasons I liked it was because in it Obama made a relation to the students.
